The US spends all its time demanding that others adopt democracy. well, they did in Palestine and the US was not happy with the outcome and refused to acknowledge the will of the Palestinian people. Not too GD democratic! Then there was Iraq, the US was in a hurry for them to hold elections; and how did that debacle work out? Voting does not a democracy make. Now it is Pakistan, will the US stay out of the process or will they demand that elections go forward on 8 Jan 08? That demand may bite them in the ass. Will they push Musharaff to go forward with the elections no matter the consequences? Good questions. time will show just how the US will be involved. And now, it is Kenya. The elections were corrupted and the UN and US have declined to recognize the outcome. Violence has ensued and a civil war is quite possible.
My point is, that one size does not fit all. elections do not make a democracy; it is the people that make the democracy and they should be the sole participant. If the US wants to promote democracy, then stay the hell of of others business, let the people decide for themselves.

Iraq Is Looking UP
Only if you are a mindless drone and accept the crap they want you to hear. OK, a new poll says that Americans think that the US is making progress in Iraq, by 54%. Good right? well. what about the Iraqis, after all that is what we were told was one of the reasons for the invasion?
The Iraqis DO NOT want us there. The Iraqis DO NOT want permenant bases in their country. They want our troops to do their work for them and restore security so the politicians can continue their hold on power.
How about a unified Iraq? This, my friends is the biggest pipedream. That is what the US wants, not necessarily what the Iraqis want. The only unifying thing in Iraq is the hatred of the US, not necessarily the troops, but the governmental bullsh*t coming from Washington. So if you are looking for unity in Iraq--look to the hatred held by Iraqis--that is about the only unifying concept at this point in their history.

A Road to Peace
Bush and his minions put together a last ditch effort to achieve some sort of a success somewhere in the world. They were trying desperately to find something that would improve his non-existent legacy as president of the US.
My first thought was that this was an attempt to blow smoke up the world's ass, but after only a very short time there was a break though and Palestine and israel have agreed on the basics of the negotiations. Now I think that there was already a decision before they came to Maryland and they waited to announce it to give Bush a boost on the international stage.
It is good news, but it will come to no fruition because eventually, all concerned players will have to engage Hamas and that is a no-no. Hamas needs to pull their heads out of their butts and realize that they were elected to represent the Palestinian people, not to fire lame ass rockets.
Only once ALL sides come to the table and deal with each other with hinesty and respect there will be NO peace, regardless of what Bush wants. His legacy will suck now and the day he leaves office. Sorry dude! Truth is hard!

We Are Owned!
In the 80's Japan began buying up the US and everyone was worried. they got into a prob and sold it back. IMO, that was not a big deal. They were buying up properties and opening factories and such. It all worked out for the better, well at least that is what they have lead us to believe.
And then China came a calling! But instead of buying up properties they bought up debt. They invested heavily in the sub-prime market. They own about $1.5 trillion of American debt. Will they ever call in the debt? That isfor conspiracy theorists.
This week UAE, bought into CitiGroup to the tune of Billions! Are they trying to help the sagging dollar? Are they trying to help avert a recession in the Us and possibly the world? Your guess is as good as anyone's.
But they own Americans! They are the owners of our future. What it, the whole world goes to sh*t? will they ever call in the debt? Only God or Allah or whatever name you assign to the maker, knows. This would make for an excellent novel! Just thinking out loud!

Trust Musharraf
I hope all are aware of the situation unfolding in Pakistan. If not nthen move on for this post will not mean much to you.
Bush said Saturday for his ranch in Crawford, that he trusted Musharraf to hold elections and take of the military uniform. And that he was sure he would keep Pakistan on the democratic road. Then later Musharraf said that elections would go on in January. Good news, right?
Will it be as free as last election when Musharraf got 98% of the vote. Not because he is so popular, but rather he has arrested all his opposition and put them in prison. He is still arresting opposition supporters. How democratic will the election be if all that disagree with him are in prison? Of course, he has said he would step down as general of the army, only to ignore the promise later.
The president is putting all his apples in one basket. Sound familiar? A president put all the apples in one basket in Iran and how did that turn out? This is a situation that needs to be approached with a firm hand and a firm stance.

Horrible Human Rights Abuses
I watched the Sunday talk shows, yes, I am a news geek, and heard time and time again from Congressional reps that were the guests, say that the situation in Myanmar was nothing short of horrible human rights abuses.
I though about this for most of Sunday and thought I would reply. The day that the Burmese government cracked down on the protesters 9 people were killed in the streets. Some say that is a low figure but for now, it is the official figure. Then if this is a human rights abuse, what of the 11 Palestinians killed on the same day? Civilians Palestinian deaths have nothing more to do with the situation in the region than being alive and living in the wrong place. why is this not a human rights abuse? Or at least why is not spotlighted as such by Congressional leaders?
Now there is an excellent question? You want a short simple answer? To do? AIPAC! The Israeli lobby in Washington. They control the opinions of a bunch of the so-called reps and senators. You will seldom hear any criticism of Israel by your elected leaders. Why? They get way too much money to buck the hand that feeds their lust for money. So Palestinians continue to die and that is their price for being born Palestinian. Sad that Americans do not check their leaders out. If they did they would puke at the influence weilded by some lobbyists.

UN Climate Change Meeting
HA! HA! HA! What is this all about? All the major polluters will be in this meeting to discuss what needs to be done to help the climate change thing. I will bet that YOU think this is a good thing. NOT!
It is a media coup! It is only being done to try an silence those people who feel that not enough is being done to save the planet. It will play really good around the world, in the media that is, but NOTHING will come of it but an agreement to do their part. All measures will be voluntary and we know how far that goes in the world. We are suppose to believe a country when they say they will do their part when they steadily pollute the rivers of their country, which is their drinking water source. Are you that stupid?
I am sure that some lame amount of years will be offered for progress; kinda like the 5-10 year timetable that is ALWAYS mentioned.
So the truth is, the only thing for certain to come out of this show will be that the environment is still f*cked!

Iranian President To NYC
OH MY GOD! Marsha Brady had a love affair with Jan Brady. There goes American society down the crapper. Or a more realistic approach would be "Who gives a f*ck!"
Move on! Iranian Pres to address UN and Columbia University. OK, there is a wealth of BS that surrounds this, but why? Well to begin with the media has made goddamn sure that it keeps reporting that Iran is killing Americans, Iran wants Israel destroyed and that the Holocaust never happened. Is that about the total of it?
Now butt brains ask yourself these questions:
Who actually controls al-Quds?
How many wars has Iran actually started?
Does Iran want a war with the US?
Who would benefit from any war with Iran?
OK, weapons are killing Americans, so were weapons from USSR and China in Vietnam, but we still talked with them.
As far as I know Iran has never started a war, it has fought wars but never started them.
Iran would have nothing to gain from a war with the US, so NO, they do not want a war.
Al-Qaeda would be the biggest winner in the war if Iran and US fight. Osama's prediction that the US was out to kill all Muslims would hold some validity across the world if the US invades Iran.
Everything that the American people know of Iran and its president has been orchestrated to achieve the exact response that it producing at this time. I am not saying that the Iranian president is being misrepresented, but more that the desires of the country are. After all he is just the mouth piece of the religious leaders, he does what they tell him to do American attempts to demonize the Iranian president in the eyes of the American people, have helped make him more popular at home.
The Americans people need to demand more diplomacy to tried and lay off the gunfighter mentality, it is moving this country toward a societal implosion.
Professor, the Oracle Of Inkwell, has spoken, so be it.
